Self-Made Free Trainer for Tavern of Gods: Lilani Trait Editor & One-Turn BOSS Annihilation Test

Grinding too hard in the indie single-player autochess 'Tavern of Gods'? Here is my self-made Lilani Trait Editor trainer for v1.1.0, complete with instructions and download link.

👋 Hi, I’m Xiaoyao.

Just a low-voltage tech guy who crimps network cables in property server rooms during the day, and loves to mess around with code and game modding in my spare time.

Today, I want to talk about a game I played a few years ago—Tavern of Gods—and the game trainer I built for it.

🍺 First, About the Game

Tavern of Gods, developed by China’s Element Studio, launched on Steam in 2021. It’s categorized as a Roguelite + Single-player Autochess.

The backstory is quite intriguing: You play as a deity hanging out in a tavern with nothing to do, so you pull out a tabletop game to play. You choose a hero, lead a squad of minions, venture into the demonic realm to fight monsters, loot equipment, build synergies, star up units, and ultimately slay the demon lord.

The core gameplay is straightforward:

You have dozens of minions to collect across various races (Humans, Barbarians, Demons, Spirits, etc.) and classes (Warriors, Mages, Assassins, Rangers…), and matching them triggers squad synergies. Equipment combines in threes to upgrade quality and activate set bonuses. Every expedition rewards you based on progress, unlocking new heroes, talents, and minion traits for future runs.

The art style and numerical balancing are decent—as an indie title from a small domestic team, you can tell it was crafted with genuine care.

😤 After Grinding for a While…

Being a Roguelite, repetitive grinding is inherently the core loop of the game. Unlocking new heroes, equipment, and talents all require accumulating expedition progress.

After grinding out the highest difficulty and unlocking the final hero, the idea popped into my head to build a trainer myself.

🎯 Core Feature: Lilani Trait Editor

Lilani, the final hero in the vanilla game, comes with 5 trait slots.

Normally, these traits require spending in-game gold in the tavern to randomly reroll—you dump money in, and what you get depends entirely on RNG.

The main purpose of this trainer is to eliminate that tedious grind entirely.

When opened, the trainer automatically detects which traits your current Lilani has equipped and populates them in a dropdown menu. Want to switch to a different trait? Just pick it. My personal favorites are “Summoner minion active skill cooldown reduced by 50%” and “Human minions immediately restore 50 mana after casting a skill”—if you know, you know.

It saves massive amounts of time while letting you assemble ultimate builds that are virtually impossible to pull off in a normal run.

💥 Real Test Results

The screenshot below shows the result of running my personal “strongest lineup” with the trainer enabled against the Stage 1 BOSS.

Tavern of Gods Trainer Test: Stage 1 BOSS obliterated instantly with 0 damage dealt

(Built a full spell-burst lineup with the trainer enabled; the Stage 1 BOSS was melted instantly without even a chance to fight back.)

Of course, a normal playthrough wouldn’t look like this. But to me, using a trainer doesn’t ruin the experience at all, because tinkering with a trainer is part of the fun of gaming. Compared to the time spent playing the game, writing a trainer might actually take longer—after all, I’m not a professional programmer, just someone who loves to tinker.

Note: The trainer uses Cheat Engine AOB (Array of Bytes) scanning to lock memory addresses. Restarting games repeatedly during a run may cause the lock to fail; simply restarting the trainer will automatically relock the addresses.

📥 How to Get It

This trainer is completely free—no paywalls, no ads, no locked features.

It is tailored for game version v1.1.0; compatibility with other versions is not guaranteed.

Due to the compilation method, Windows Defender may flag it as a false positive—please download with discretion if you mind.

🎮 Final Thoughts

Building trainers shares the exact same philosophy as developing Xiaoyao Workout for me—tools are meant to serve us, not to be put on a pedestal.

Whenever I play niche games in the future and feel like tweaking something after beating them, I’ll likely craft a trainer and share it here.
